Greetings Traders and welcome to the Galactic Market. The Galactic Market is a PHP powered interface with the purpose of making trading easier and more efficient. This guide will help you get started if you are new to this site or simply wish to learn more about it.

When you first arrive at the website on the right hand side you will see a link to "Register Account" upon clicking this link you will be shown a box with blank fields. Enter you account specifics here. Your user name should preferably be your Star Wars Combine handle and your email will be used to notify you of purchases on your listings and other such events so be sure it is an email you actively use. Under contact info list a way in which other may contact you such as your handle for Darkness messaging, your ICQ, AIM, MSN contacts et cetera. Your "Avatar" URL should be a link to a small image which represents your character such as your image on Darkness.


It is important to choose a password which is unique and which you can remember. If lost you can always retrieve your password and have it sent to your accounts Email Address the link to "Lost Password" can be found on the front page below "Register Account".

Next time you visit the GM site just enter in your User Name and Password as Prompted and you are ready to begin Trading! Once you login you will notice in the upper right corner a clock which displays the current galactic year, day and time.

Once you are logged in at the GM site on the right hand side you will see a link labeled "Account Details". From there you will be able to modify your account specifics which you registered with upon first visiting the GM site. This page will also show you any feedback given on yourself as a trader which we will get into with more detail later. You will also notice the faded image of five lightsabers. That is an overall rating of you as a trader on a scale of 1-5. You can also view other player's ratings and details by clicking on their handles on the GM site via listings or "traders logged in" area on the main page.

As an alternative to sending a player a message through darkness. It may be better to contact them through the GM site itself. When clicking on a traders username on the site you can also choose to send that trader a message, or you may click the "New Message" button on the top of the "My Messages" page and manually input the trader's username and a topic for the message.

Now it's time to get down to business. the real reason you are all here, to trade. When you log into the GM site you will notice that is 10 Newest Listings. There are basically two kinds of listings on the GM site to date. 'Buy It Now' or 'Auction'. You be able to see these terms on the listings themselves.


Next to the listing type for Buy It Now is the price of the item and next to the listing type Auction is the current bid on the item. The end date specifies when a Buy It Now listing will expire or when an Auction will close. To purchase a Buy It Now item click the heading on the item such as the "1 X34 Speeder!" line in the image above. Once there you will be brought to a screen similar to this.


This screen will give you information on the item you wish to purchase as well as the item's seller. clicking buy it now will remove the listing and add it to your purchases as well as sending a notification email to the seller and yourself so that you may complete the transaction through darkness. Clicking watch listing will add information on this listing to the "My Listings" page which we will go over in more detail later.

In the image above you can see a button marked "make offer" with an info field above it. This is a handy feature of the GM website where you can make an offer on a 'Buy It Now' listing. Enter the price you wish to offer the seller and he will be notified through his "My Listings" page. It will also be noted on your 'My Listings' page. The seller can choose to reject or accept the offer. If accepted on his 'My Listings' page you will be notified via e-mail and your 'My Listings' page.

In an auction, multiple buyers compete for an item over a determined period of time. The buyer who offers the most by the end wins the right to purchase it. In the image below you can see what your basic auction listing looks like. You will notice it shows the current high bid on the item including the trader who has made the bid as well as the end date of the auction. You will notice a button called 'place bid'. you can enter the amount you wish to bid in the info field above, most auction will have a minimum amount you can add to the highest bid. Once you are satisfied with the offer entered, press place bid and it will be tracked on your "My Listings" page.


When you login to the GM site you will notice a "Browse" menu on the right-hand side. You can use this to view all the listings currently on the GM site by item category. You can also use this menu to view a list of Popular Traders, or known thieves and to get back to the main page.


Once you select a category you can also filter out the listings further with the menu running across the top of the screen which looks like this.


Clicking on 10, 25, or 50 changes the number of listings which will be seen per page, or you can simple click All to view all listings of that category on one page. Clicking Auctions will filter out all Auction listings and clicking 'Buy It Now' will filter out all 'Buy It Now' Listings.

Once in the "My Listings" section you will notice 2 options across the top of the window.


Clicking on the "New Listing" link will allow you to list your own merchandise on the GM site to sell. clicking on the this link brings you to this screen.


Here you may select the type of item you intend to sell and also the type of listing (Buy It Now or Auction). After you are finished here and click the "next" button you will be brought to a screen with many info fields.


From the first drop down menu, select the item you are selling and then the quantity of that item you are selling. It is important that you only use numbers in the Price field, No Commas! You can title your listing whatever you wish, but try and keep it relevant. On the larger info field below you can add info important to your trade such as terms of the trade, location of the item etc. Once you are finished click "add buy it now" and then you are done!

Another handy feature of the GM site for those of you who have organizational difficulties is the Watch Listing feature. It can be accessed by going into the "My Listings" section of the GM site. Any trader's listing you bid on, or offer on, or any listing you make will automatically be added here. It will notify you if you have been given an offer on your listing, or if your offer on another was rejected. It will also notify you when an auction or sale is completed and if you have been outbid on an auction.


You can manually add listing to this area by clicking the watch listing button when accessing other trader's listings on the GM site.

From the "My Listings" section you may also choose to stop watching listings by clicking the trash-bin icon to the right hand side. For you own Listings clicking on the Red X icon will end your listing before the noted end date. Clicking the blue icon will allow you to modify the specifics of your listing.


When you click the "End Early" icon you are brought to a screen which allows you to input a specific reason for ending the listing early to give buyers more incite into your actions. Simply input the reason into the info field and click 'confirm'.


If the listing is your own the "Stop Watching" option becomes the delete listing option.


You may also end, modify, or delete a listing by clicking on one of your own listings while browsing the GM website via a series of options over the top of the screen. You can also create a "New Listing" or access your "My Listings" page by clicking the overview button.

In interest of promoting honest trading, the GM website allows users to rate other traders. Clicking on a purchase in your My Listings section will allow you to click a "give feedback" button.


Once that button is clicked a pop-up window will appear which will allow you to give positive, negative or neutral feedback on a trader. You can also give further information in the text box below such as "great trader, fast an honest" or "he stole my money" or "he didn't really intend to buy". Giving feedback will affect the traders five lightsaber rating in his profile and all comments can be viewed there as well.
